Oxford, Mississippi
Oxford Fire Department
The Oxford Fire Department is committed to protecting life, property, and our community through a full range of fire, rescue, and emergency services. Serving a city of both longtime residents and a large university population, we maintain readiness 24/7 with a dedicated staff of 78 employees. The department is organized into functional divisions — such as training, fire prevention/inspection, operations, public education, and administrative support — to maintain excellence in each area of service.
We respond to an average of 90 calls per week (about 360 calls per month), and our personnel work in rotating shifts to ensure continuous coverage across our service area. Our network of stations (with Station 1 featured in tours and photos) provides strategic deployment to respond rapidly throughout Oxford and surrounding areas.

Mission & Community Engagement
Our mission is to ensure the safety and well-being of Oxford and surrounding communities through preparedness, professionalism, and community partnership. We believe that prevention, education, and engagement are as critical as suppression and rescue.
Each year, we host station tours, share photos and stories of firefighting in action, and encourage public involvement. For non-emergency assistance (like smoke detector installation or general questions), citizens are invited to contact us via our online form or phone lines.
Through event partnerships—such as a softball tournament with the police, community fundraisers, and youth programs—we strive to build strong, trusted relationships with the public we serve.
